World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all the upgraded perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). The average level of the item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's a measure of the item's damage and quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item level.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the full item description, including its level. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are various theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated by a formula that calculates the worth of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item overall. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

The upgrades to items add by increasing certain stats of the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item, for example, will only be upgraded one time, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is through affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to  upgrade item s. It gives players the possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more valuable in the initial game run than in later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Furthermore some items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of the item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
